The next installment of the highly popular East Winds Film Festival makes a welcome return from 15th – 19th May 2017 and this year its being organised and run by students from MA CCM’s Transnational Distribution module! Here’s a teaser of what to expect:

Our very own state-of-the-art Square One cinema will be the main venue for 5 days of the best of Asian film fare and a hint of glamour from some high profile guests. This year’s festival goes digital with a host of new social media content, weekly online shows and loads more interactive stuff to be announced closer to the festival.

This year the festival will also take place in Birmingham’s Mockingbird Cinema, situated in the ultra cool Custard Factory. Of course not a real custard factory but an area that has been synonymous with the creative spirit of the Midlands.

Co- Director Andreea Dascalu shared her thoughts on this year’s festival:

“We’re thrilled to once again put a spotlight on popular East Asian cinema in the UK. To mark our fifth anniversary, we’re also delighted to introduce an interactive element to the festival, making it more accessible to everyone, whether they’re at home or on the go.”

Announcements on ticketing, programme and guests will follow in the coming weeks but do give the festival social media accounts a follow / like here:
